On 6th June the WAWFL will officially celebrate its indigenous female footballers by holding the first Yorga’s Koodjal Kadadjiny Match (Women’s Two Way Learning Match).  The game will be held at 12pm or 2pm (time to be confirmed) at Bassendean Oval - home of the Swans.  One side will be made up of indigenious WAWFL players and the other with non-indigenous players.

Achieving reconciliation means raising awareness and knowledge of indigenous history and culture. In addition, it aims to change attitudes that are based on myth or misunderstanding but ultimately encourages everyone to build positive relationships between all Australians.

A football field is a wonderful opportunity to promote the values of reconciliation; below are some of the outcomes the Yorga’s Koodjal Kadadjiny Match will strive to achieve:

  • Development of Women’s Football
  • Cultural Education and Awareness
  • Positive Role Modeling for Young Indigenous Female Footballers
  • Community Engagement and Development
  • Opportunity for Young Players to Play Alongside Senior Players
  • Clubs coming together to celebrate culture
If you would like to play in this match SMS Y back to the teamer message marked "Indig Round" or contact Charlene Hedland, Match Co-Ordinator on 0450 483 117.
